Founded in 1966, Parisian fashion house Paco Rabanne has asserted a distinct identity resulting from the synthesis of contemporary design and radical cutting art. Paco Rabanne was born Francisco Rabaneda y Cuervo in 1934 in the Spanish Basque Country. At the age of five, he and his mother, a seamstress in Balenciaga, escaped the Spanish Civil War by fleeing to France, where he took the name Paco Rabanne. In the early 1960s, after training as an architect, he applied his skills in the design of avant-garde accessories, proposing unique creations for several haute couture houses. In 1969, Paco launched Calandre, a bold floral that challenged traditional perfumery, unleashing decades of memorable fragrances bearing the Paco Rabanne name.
